A Campaign for Justice

ECPAT International is a global network of organisations working to end the sexual exploitation of children. Their mission is to ensure that children everywhere live free from all forms of sexual exploitation.

They approached Content Creatures with a critical mission: to create compelling visual content to shine a light on the global inconsistencies surrounding statutes of limitations for sexual crimes against children.

The goal was to develop a campaign that would:

  • Educate the public about the impact of statutes of limitations on survivors of child sexual abuse
  • Highlight the global discrepancies in legal systems regarding these statutes
  • Advocate for the abolition of statutes of limitations for sexual crimes against children
  • Empower survivors and encourage societal support for change

Developing an understanding

We began by immersing ourselves in the complex and sensitive subject of statutes of limitation and crimes of sexual violence against children. Our team worked closely with ECPAT International to grasp the nuances of the issue, ensuring our creative output would be both impactful and respectful.

The team at ECPAT had developed the campaign concept of ‘Timeless Justice’. Our task was to convey the powerful message that justice for survivors should not have an expiration date.

Our Creative and Strategic Approach

We developed a distinctive visual style that balanced the gravity of the subject with the need for engaging, shareable content. Our approach included:

  • A colour palette that evoked both the seriousness of the issue and the hope for change
  • Symbolic imagery representing time, justice, and empowerment
  • Typography that enhanced the emotional impact of the messaging

To ensure maximum reach and impact, we created a suite of content, including:

  1. A 90-second main video
  2. Five 15-second cutdown videos for social media
  3. Infographics highlighting key statistics and information
  4. Social media squares for easy sharing across platforms

The Creative Content

The centrepiece of the campaign is a 90″ animation which takes viewers on a journey from the shadows of past abuse to the light of justice. It powerfully illustrates the impact of statutes of limitations and calls for global change.

As well as the 15″ social shorts, we also translated complex information into visually engaging and easily digestible formats. We focused on:

  • Global legal disparities
  • The timeline of disclosure for survivors
  • The impact of removing statutes of limitations

A huge thanks to Content Creatures for working with us on our recent animation. They took our brief and executed it perfectly. We were also thrilled that the voices of adults with a learning disability remained front and centre of the project.
