Brand Pie had been working with Octopus to develop their brand positioning. The work included a new visual identity and we were asked create an animated launch film to bring their off screen property to life for their website and reception screens.
Unlike other Investment companies, Octopus is led by both its head and its heart and the rebrand developed by BrandPie sought to reflect this. They supplied us with the illustrations that expressed the brand vision in two ways and asked us to explore ways to bring that duality to life.
We started by developing the logo animation style, having the movement transition from a hard motion to a softer, more fluid one as the word ‘Octopus’ is revealed.
We took this principle and animated the two halves of the logo differently. The blue ‘head’ icons pop-up and unfold, whilst the pink ‘head’ icons are bouncier and spongier. The sound design enhances this with paper sounds for one and water bubbles for the others
