behind the scenes

As the strategic tools for conveying a brand’s ethos, narrative, and value proposition, corporate videos have become a cornerstone of modern communication and marketing.

With 91% of businesses leveraging video marketing and 92% of marketers acknowledging the substantial return on investment provided by video, the impact of corporate videos is undeniable.

Corporate videos use storytelling to showcase the brand’s history, values, and culture, while also creating an emotional connection with the audience.

Impactful corporate communication is engaging, meaningful, informative, and interesting.

But unfortunately, creating an impactful corporate video is not simple. An engaging narrative requires both strategic planning and creativity. Creative minds must craft a compelling narrative that deeply resonates and engages with the target audience for an impactful corporate video. This narrative must translate into a visual story using lighting, sound, animation, camera work, and special effects to bring your brand’s story to life.

In this blog, we will reveal our approach to creating impactful corporate videos. You’ll get an exclusive peek into our creative process and see how we transform a creative brief into a powerful brand asset.

Our Video Production Process

Step 1: Collect

Working in partnership and developing a clear brief from the outset is key to a successful project. This collaborative approach ensures that we are aligned with your vision and objectives from the very beginning.

Having a kick-off meeting and not holding back makes an enormous difference. This initial meeting is crucial as it sets the tone for the entire project. During this session, we encourage open communication and transparency. The more you share with us about your goals, expectations, and any specific requirements, the easier it is for us to create the right content for you.

We’ll explore how your brand is viewed internally and externally, and review past work and brand guidelines so we can bring your vision to life in a manner that is best understood by your audience.

Step 2: Consider

Now we get our brains working. This is the creative strategy stage; it is all about generating ‘The Big Idea’ that will bring the brief to life through creative brainstorming.

We’ll work with you to write a creative brief, and once you and your stakeholders are happy, will develop two distinctive creative routes based on an agreed strategic thought.

These routes represent different creative directions that the project could take, each with its own unique approach and style. By presenting multiple options, we provide you with the flexibility to choose the direction that best aligns with your vision and objectives.

Step 3: Concept

Once you’ve chosen a creative route, our Design Directors and copywriters will work together to develop the initial concept.

This is the concept development stage; it is about exploring how to bring creative to life. This involves refining the initial ideas and developing a comprehensive plan for the project.

Our team will consider various aspects, such as visual style, tone, and messaging to ensure that the final product is both visually appealing and impactful.

Key activities in this stage include:

  • Conceptualisation

Our Designer Director, Grace, take on this stage:

“The most important aspect of conceptualising is understanding the client’s current goals and what they aim to achieve with the video. This allows us to provide informed advice and ensure that their vision aligns with the right creative direction.

Equally important is a thorough review of their brand guidelines, which goes beyond just the visual elements. We delve into how the brand perceives itself and how it wants to be perceived by its audience. Some brands may see themselves as authoritative, while others aim to be friendly and approachable. Understanding the brand’s tone of voice is crucial in this process.

After conducting this initial research, we explore various styles that would be relevant to the brand and present one or two options for consideration. This ensures that the final concept is not only visually appealing but also resonates with the brand’s identity and objectives”.

  • Storyboarding

Storyboarding allows you to visualise the entire video before production begins. It provides a clear roadmap of each scene, shot, and sequence, helping to plan the visual elements and composition effectively.

Our Head of Studio, Andy, emphasises the importance of storyboarding:

“Storyboarding is an essential part of the creative process. It allows us to evaluate each element, ensuring that they are perfectly aligned and balanced. By examining the storyboard, we can identify and adjust any inconsistencies, such as colour imbalances or misaligned components, that may disrupt the visual harmony. This process is crucial, especially when adhering to a brand’s visual identity. The storyboard serves as a comprehensive blueprint, enabling us to see the project as a cohesive whole and maintain uniformity throughout the design”.

  • Scriptwriting

Scriptwriting provides a clear and organised narrative and structure for the video or film. It outlines the storyline, dialogue, and key messages, ensuring that the content flows logically and coherently.

Brett, our Strategy Partner, shares his insights on scriptwriting:

“One of the main challenges in scriptwriting is condensing a lot of content into a short space of time while ensuring clarity and engagement. It’s about distilling ideas and making them compelling through storytelling. Whether it’s an explainer or a how-to video, we aim to take the viewer on a journey, keeping them hooked from start to finish. As audiences demand shorter content, we need to convey more information in less time, maintaining an engaging narrative. Understanding storytelling, structure, and hooks is crucial to keep viewers interested, much like screenwriters do in longer films, but we need to do this within a 45 to 60-second video.”

Step 4: Consolidate

Once we have consolidated your feedback, we are ready to focus on designing and developing all the elements needed for a successful project.

Scripts and copy will be completed and storyboards reworked as artwork style-frames, reflecting the final look of the creative.

Step 5: Create & Circulate

With strategy, content, design and pace approved, we can begin creating the final product.

This can involve any combination of skills; illustration, animation, live action filming, editing and so on.

We believe that the best results are born from collaboration, and that’s why we offer numerous opportunities to comment and input at every stage of the production process.

Once we have had your final approval, we can work with you to master all the deliverables you and your team need, in a range of formats ready for you to circulate.

What types of Corporate Videos Do We Create?

Depending on your target audience, message objectives, and desired impact, you can choose from different types of corporate videos, such as:

  •  Animated Explainer Videos

Animated explainer videos are a powerful tool in corporate settings. They use animation techniques to simplify complex ideas and present them in an engaging and visually appealing way.  By presenting information in both audio and visual way, animated explainer videos can reduce cognitive load, enhancing information processing so viewers can easily grasp and retain the information presented.

This makes these videos particularly effective for explaining products, services, or processes in a way that is easy to understand and remember.

  • Live Action Videos

Live action videos involve the use of real-life footage to create engaging content. This type of video production captures real people, places, and events, making it highly relatable and authentic.

Live action videos are ideal for showcasing company culture, and behind-the-scenes looks at operations. They help to build trust and credibility with the audience by providing a genuine glimpse into the company’s world.

  • Motion Graphics

Motion graphics are a versatile tool for enhancing visual storytelling in corporate videos. By incorporating visual effects and animated elements, motion graphics can bring static content to life.

This technique is often used to highlight key information, illustrate data, and create visually arresting narratives. Motion graphics can seamlessly integrate into various types of videos, including explainer videos, presentations, and promotional content, to add an extra layer of engagement and professionalism.
