A blog image by Content Creatures, a creative agency specialising in video production and animation, for the 'Creature Feature' series. It features colourful, textured illustrations of stylised animals, dynamic abstract shapes in vibrant animations, impactful visuals from WWF's "Hidden Cost" campaign creatively highlighting wildlife conservation, and screenshots showcasing contemporary digital and interactive design inspirations.

Every month, we highlight standout creative projects that have captured our attention—animations that innovate, designs that provoke thought, and storytelling that pushes creative boundaries. Welcome to May’s Creature Feature, a curated look at what’s inspired us recently.

Fairy Tales with Alphabet

This ongoing creative project takes inspiration from classic fairy tales, the moral lessons of Aesop’s Fables, and the structured approach of the “36 Days of Type” challenge—a popular online project where artists create illustrations of letters or numbers daily for 36 consecutive days. In this interpretation, each letter of the alphabet is carefully designed to form its own unique and visually engaging 3D scene, each depicting a distinct narrative. Using detailed textures, vibrant colours, playful characters, and whimsical compositions, the project effectively fuses typography and storytelling into compelling visual narratives. Ultimately, the ambition is to animate these detailed scenes, transforming them from static illustrations into lively, dynamic stories that further enhance their imaginative appeal.

This experimental animation by Jonthun skillfully integrates both 2D and 3D animation techniques, resulting in a visually striking piece. The short, looping animation stands out due to its distinctive use of colours, gradients, and intricate textures, all seamlessly combined through fluid motion. The animation is further elevated by sophisticated transitions and thoughtfully crafted sound design, creating an energetic and engaging audiovisual experience.

Interaction Design

A wealth of ideas for anyone who wants to creatively spruce up their website, the Awwwards panel of judges showcase the best in webdesign across multiple sectors and disciplines.  We’ve been particularly enjoying the “Interaction Design” category, as it’s an area that our team at Content Creatures has been utlising for some of our recent projects.

 The Hidden Cost

WWF // Nikolaj Lykke Viborg

This WWF campaign stands out for its clever visual storytelling, creatively using hidden animal faces within everyday food items to highlight the unseen environmental consequences of consumer habits. The idea of “The Hidden Cost” is effectively communicated by subtly embedding images of endangered animals—like gorillas, jaguars, and tigers—into familiar products such as cocoa powder, coffee, and instant noodles. This approach immediately captures attention, prompting viewers to reflect on the indirect impacts their daily choices have on wildlife habitats. By making the hidden visible through simple yet sophisticated imagery, the campaign delivers a strong emotional appeal and encourages deeper consideration of conservation issues.

It’s always a pleasure to share work that inspires fresh thinking and creative conversation.
